 Fund Raising and Restoration of
St Nicolas Church, Cranleigh

Launch of 'Sponsor a Speaker' or 'Buy a Sound Item'

Late last year the PCC adopted the proposal for a new, up to date, Sound System which will enhance our worship at every service, including those accompanied by our burgeoning music group.

We felt that the Christmas period, with its varied services, including the many Carol Services, showed that higher quality voice and music projection could make an appreciable difference to the spiritual experience of the congregations.

This project is St. Nicolas' main fund-raising priority at present and we already have funds covering nearly half of the total quotation.

The major cost of the system is of course the equipment and we would like to give parishioners the opportunity to sponsor individual items.

A list of items and costs is available at the back of the church, so please have a look and see how you can contribute.  Do ask a churchwarden or one of the Sound Team to help if anything is unclear.

For example, £12.70 buys 10 m of speaker cable, £28 buys a microphone stand, £124 for each small speaker and £189 for each large loudspeaker.

For the more expensive items, it may be that several people would like to form a syndicate and that would be great.  Even a small contribution towards any item would be very welcome and all will be publicly acknowledged unless you wish your donation to be anonymous in which case please liaise directly with a Churchwarden.

There are some construction costs and much higher priced items which are listed elsewhere in case we are approached by Corporate or very generous private sponsors. Please ask to see these if you are interested.

We can of course increase our income by 28% if we can claim Gift Aid.  Please ask for help in indicating on the form if you are a taxpayer and therefore able to Gift Aid your donation.       Many thanks!

On-going Restoration Work
As with any ancient building (ours dates back to 1170 - see Guide page), we have a continuing need for the upkeep of the fabric.
Some 12 years ago we had sufficient funds to decorate the interior of the church - an easy job, only to find serious cracks in the tower area and the actual tower pulling away from the main body of the church.
We launched our first major appeal in 1997 and since then we have raised nearly half a million pounds!

Thank You !
