News from Erik
Brothers and sisters
On Sunday 14th June, the Church Wardens shared the following announcement at our 10am service:
We are very pleased to announce that the Bishop of Oxford has approved the appointment of Erik Heemskerk as the next Vicar of St Mary’s in Barton, Oxford.
The exact date of his move will be confirmed shortly, with a licensing in early September.
We would like to congratulate Erik on this exciting appointment and encourage you to hold him and Rosemarie, Sophie, Nora and Astrid in your prayers in the coming months.
Erik and family will not be finally leaving Cranleigh until some time in August, but his last official Sunday with us will be on the 19th July when we hope to have a proper chance to say thank you and goodbye at a shared lunch on that day.
Obviously, Rosemarie and I are very grateful and excited about this news and to follow God’s call to Barton to love and serve Him and His people there. We will also be sad to be leaving you – you have been such a wonderful church family for us here in Cranleigh, and it’s been so exciting to be a part of what God is doing in Cranleigh. These have been three very happy years for us, and we are just so grateful for your love, prayers, and support over this time and especially around Astrid’s birth and over the last few months. Please do continue to pray for us as a family over the next months and as we prepare to move, and I hope to get a chance to speak and spend time with you all before we leave.
Prayers and blessings,
Erik Heemskerk
